Joke – A Play by Makrand Deshpande

On the third and the last day of CUFT, we had an incredible production of “Joke”. Written and directed by Makarand Deshpande, ‘Joke’ tells the story of Sandeep Joshi, a screenwriter who raises important questions about life and religion.

In our current situation, where religious fanaticism is destroying lives of millions, ‘Joke’ asks pertinent questions about our dealings of faith. It raises the important point whether we follow religious traditions because we genuinely believe in them or just because that’s how we have been brought up. It makes us think of the role of faith in our lives.
